Unlock your intuition and inner wisdom

Hannah Martin, LMHC

Whether you are feeling out of touch with yourself, feeling reactive to the world around you, or stuck in patterns that don’t feel helpful, this is a nonjudgmental space for you.

You’re feeling overwhelmed and stuck, unsure of how to make a decision. You feel like you can’t let go of past experiences no matter how much you’ve talked about it with friends or therapists.

It’s easy to think that we should be able to “move on” in our mind but our body and emotions are feeling like they can’t let go. It can feel disempowering and helpless.

I will meet you where you’re at and guide you in understanding what the different parts of your mind and body are trying to communicate.

What would it look like if you were able to let go of burdens you’ve been holding on to and feel a sense of freedom?

We all learn that some parts of us are welcome and others aren’t early in life. Maybe some emotions and behaviors were okay to express and others weren’t. It can feel scary to let yourself try something different. We can have outdated ways of coping or relating that don’t work in the present.

That is why we will go slow and follow the pace that you need to build trust and safety over time in our work together.

This process is a kind and compassionate one that takes time to let yourself expand into all of who you are, not who you learned you had to be for those around you.

How Somatic IFS Works:

  • As we meet weekly, I begin to know more about you and your story and you get to know my approach

  • Sometimes we feel there’s a sense of urgency to our need to change. With the work you’re wanting to do, my belief is that slowing down and being present brings deeper healing.

  • We create space to listen to the many different parts of you and attend to the way your body communicates.

  • With a deeper sense of what is most supportive to you, you feel empowered to take steps to bring your life into alignment

Frequently Asked Questions

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems) is a therapy that helps you understand the different parts of yourself. What do I mean by parts? Instead of saying "I am angry," we recognize that a part of you feels angry, while another part might feel sad. Maybe part of you is excited about an upcoming event, and another part feels terrified. IFS helps you listen to these different parts and understand what they need, so you can feel more peaceful and balanced inside.

  • Somatic refers to being aware of and connecting with your body, not just your mind. Often, we spend a lot of time in our heads, overthinking, judging, and planning, which can make us feel disconnected from our body. Somatic work helps you tune into your body and understand what it’s trying to tell you. For example, tense shoulders might be telling you that you need to slow down, while your mind might push you to keep going. By listening to both your mind and body, you can find more balance and make choices that are truly best for you.

  • Somatic IFS sessions can look different depending on what you need. Sometimes we’ll focus on the thoughts or emotions you’re experiencing, and other times we’ll pay attention to how your body feels. No matter where you are, I’ll meet you there and guide you through the process, engaging all parts of you—your mind, emotions, and body—to help you feel more connected and balanced.
